Thanks for that, Deane. Really helpful. I am planning to say something in my blog this week about the apostolic and church government, and will be able to reference this. In our history I think we genuinely tried to be relational and the apostle was meant to be equipping and first in function not position, but the general underlying model of hierarchy undermined our efforts (your comparison of the apostle as the MD of a company is telling!). I think it genuinely requires a new revelatory work of the Spirit to give us a different, non-hierarchical model of authority - one as you say that is based on family, and on heaven's model of family.
